Summary
Adetomiwa Adebawore originally committed to Northwestern out of high school as a 3-star from Kansas. He was a four year contributor and two year starter for the Wildcats. The two time All-Big Ten Player had 93 pressures and 14 sacks in his career.
Adebawore is a physical specimen along the defensive line. He lit up the combine with some of the craziest testing numbers in its history. Northwestern played him at EDGE for a majority of his career but his long term home is likely on the interior. Adebawore best fits on the outside shoulder of the guard or inside shoulder of the tackle, an alignment he saw far more in 2022, a year in which his production spiked.
Adebawore plays with excellent power at the point of attack. His “lack” of height and long arms give him exceptional natural leverage. He displays the first step quickness to be a game wrecking penetrator on the inside. An impressively explosive athlete he generates tons of power from his lower half in both the run and pass game. His pass rush ability is very raw at this point in time and he often relies on his superior athleticism to win in that regard. He displays a strong bull rush and forklift move as a rusher. Adebawore plays with a relentless motor, constantly working to win almost to a fault at times.
The way Northwestern used Adebawore leaves a large part of his evaluation up to projection. He is very raw technically as a player. In the run game his base is inconsistent and he struggles to remove hands from his frame. As a rusher he has a limited pass rush arsenal, typically winning with athleticism at the collegiate level. Adebawore also is a step slow to recognize screens and other misdirection plays, too often running himself out plays.
2022 was a glimpse into what Adebawore can be as a pro. Finally getting more reps at his true home in the interior, he was able to display what his world class athleticism can accomplish. There still remains a large projection in terms of his development at this point but the flashes combined with his physical profile are worth betting on. Adebawore projects as a high upside 3 technique who can be a true game wrecker on all three downs. His impact will take some time as he becomes more accustomed to his role and the speed of the NFL but his upside could be worth the wait.
