Summary
Broderick Jones has locked down the left side of the Georgia offensive line for a season and some change now. A big powerful tackle he was snug fit in Georgia’s run first offense with his ability to drive defenders out of the hole at the point of attack. The power in his lower half and hands leads to big holes when running off his side. His hand placement is hit or miss allowing defenders to get into his frame but when he connects defenders struggle to disengage. Jones is more than just a power tackle, with above excellent athleticism he has the ability to get out in space on screens and pull plays to destroy 2nd level defenders. His aggression and desire to finish plays is exactly what you want to see from a franchise left tackle. Jones plus mobility when combined with good length and a fantastic ability to anchor vs power rushers makes him an NFL level pass blocker. At times he can struggle with speed, especially with inside moves as his aggression leads him to being out over his feet and losing balance. When Jones is able to stay upright and move his feet he is able to mirror defenders and his powerful frame and length make him a difficult player to turn the corner on. Jones comes in on draft night on the younger side at 21, with his physical talent and SEC pedigree he has the chance to be a Top 15 pick and maybe even the top tackle off the board. Teams in the first round that need a franchise left tackle will surely do their homework on the athletic mauler from Georgia with All-Pro level upside as a blindside protector.
