Summary
Bryce Young is an undersized yet electric playmaker at quarterback. His ability to operate inside the pocket and out of structure is truly special. An above average runner with an excellent feel for the pocket he has the ability to make plays with both his legs and arm when the play breaks down. A high level processor that gets through all his reads quickly he shows excellent accuracy and anticipation in the short to intermediate areas of the field. His arm is good for the NFL level but not great. Young possesses a lot of zip inside 20 yards but his ball can falter to the far sideline and down the field at times. A true gamer when it gets late there is no one you would rather have the ball than #9. All of 2022 when the talent faltered around him he showed the ability to carry his team on his back to win games. A gunslinger at heart he does toss up some turnover worthy balls but it's part of what makes him special so you just kind of have to live with it. The biggest question about him will be his size and ability to hold up at the next level. I don’t think it impacts his game in a significant manner (there are some funky timing/footwork issues at times) but as a player who likes to extend plays he does take some shots. With his frame and recent shoulder injury there will be questions about how many hits he can absorb in the NFL, especially if he goes high to a bad team. When it's all said and done Young is a high floor prospect at the position and his ability to play in and out of structure combined with his intangibles on and off the field give him a strong case to be the #1 overall pick
