Summary
Cedric Tillman entered Tennessee as a three star recruit from Nevada. It took him a few years to find his footing but once Coach Josh Heupel took the job in 2021 he exploded. In 2021 he put together a breakout season amassing over 1,200 yards before having a productive yet injury-filled 2022. Tillman is a big bodied receiver with excellent ball skills and soft hands. His ability to be physical at the catch point and at the top of his routes is some of the best in this class. He has wonderful control of his body in the air; when paired with his large catch radius he is a dynamic jump ball player. Tillman has surprising quickness and smooth footwork for his size. This allows him to get in and out of his breaks easier than a man of his size should. Quickness combined with plus contact balance as a runner allows him to break the first tackle more often than not, even though he is not considered much of a YAC player. Questions about a limited route tree and production coming from an offense that doesn’t easily translate to the next level are valid. When combined with his speed, which is solid for his size, but not top tier, separation issues at the next level could arise. Tillman is a smooth mover at 6’3” with the ball skills and YAC ability to be a strong #2 at the next level. His physicality as a run blocker and his foot speed should allow him to play outside and power slot even if he didn’t show that much in college. In a draft class that lacks many big bodied receivers that can attack the ball in the air he projects as an early Day 2 candidate.
