Summary
Henry To’o To’o has been on the national radar since his high school days at De La Salle High School. The former 5 Star recruit was a 2 year starter at Tennessee before transferring to Alabama in 2021. During his time for the Crimson Tide he started every game and compiled over 140 tackles in 2 years.
To’o To’o is a highly experienced and intelligent linebacker. It takes a lot of mental capacity to man the green dot in a Nick Saban defense and it shows in his game. To’o To’o’s best reps come when asked to play out in space where his speed and instincts can shine. He has a non stop motor and excellent sideline to sideline speed. He does a tremendous job of quickly IDing screens and play action plays. To'oTo'o was a tackling machine in college, posting strong production numbers at two SEC schools. However he is more of a grab and drag tackler, too often not bringing power behind his pads in the hole. To’o To’o needs to improve his consistency in the run game. Too often is he slow to trigger despite positioning himself in the right spot. He lacks the traditional size of a MIKE backer and often is swallowed up in the flow of the run game. To’o To’o struggles to deconstruct blocks in the run game at the point of attack, often being washed down by bigger lineman. There are flashes of an impact run defender in his game and they typically come on horizontal runs where his speed shines and lineman struggle to get hands on him,
To’o To’o’s instincts and experience show up in zone coverage quite frequently. He is an excellent communicator that passes off routes extremely well. For a player of his speed profile his lack of splash plays in coverage are a little disappointing (0 PBUs in 2021 & 2022). Quarterbacks that use their eyes well are able to move To’o To’o away from his landmark and open up lanes behind him. To’o To’o shows above average flexibility for the position and was often used as a pass rusher. His ability to be a solid blitzer gives him some third down versatility at the next level.
To'o To'o is a fast instinctive linebacker who’s best reps come out in space. However, inconsistencies in the run game and struggles disengaging from blockers will likely limit his pro ceiling. The most optimistic projections for To’o To’o would be a starting MIKE backer in a defense with a strong front four that allows him to play out in space. A more realistic projection for him would be a fringe Day 2 pick that provides depth as a sub package player and stars on special teams.
