Summary
Jammie Robinson was a 4-Star recruit coming out of high school and originally committed to South Carolina before transferring to Florida State. In total Robinson started 37 games across four years at two schools. In his collegiate career he racked up 228 tackles and 7 INTs.
Robinson was an extremely versatile player during his collegiate career. He was able to record 600+ snaps at both safety spots as well as NCB. It should come as no surprise from a player with that type of versatility that he is extremely intelligent. Instincts and football IQ bleed into every part of his game. In run defense he takes excellent pursuit angles and is rarely out of position. Robinson is a strong tackler that brings his feet and wraps up. Despite his size he shows a willingness to run the alley and bring his body versus bigger defenders. Robinson excels as a zone coverage player down by the line of scrimmage. His instincts and lateral agility shine in underneath zone and robber roles. Robinson is also a strong blitzer on third down due to his ability to time snap counts.
Robinson is fighting the uphill battle of not being big or athletic. He relies more than most on his IQ and technique. Despite being a strong run defender his lack of size and length leads to difficulties disengaging from blockers. The same restrictions hurt his ability as a man coverage player versus tight ends. Robinson lacks the long speed to spend significant time manning the high safety spot. His lack of long speed is shockingly apparent the few times he takes poor pursuit angles. He lacks the recovery speed to overcome mental mistakes on the back end.
Jammie Robinson is an experienced, intelligent player who brings a lot of great things to a defense. However below average size and athletic testing will likely limit him to a rotational role at the next level. Robinson projects as an excellent NCB or SAF3 at the next level. He will play best in a defense that asks him to play down around the box where his instincts and tackling can shine. Robinson is a high floor player who at worst should be a special teams standout, but in the right spot he has the upside of a Pro Bowl Caliber nickel player.
