Summary
Keion White began his collegiate career as a 2 Star TE at Old Dominion. After the 2019 season he transferred to Georgia Tech but his breakout season at EDGE didn’t happen until the 2022 season. White possesses an excellent blend of size and speed. At 280 plus pounds his first step quickness and ability to run in the open field is exceptional. He has tremendous lateral mobility and closes on ball carriers in the blink of an eye. His movement skills combined with his large frame makes him a difficult player to contain in the run game. Despite these tools his impact as a run defender is inconsistent. He takes poor pursuit angles that neutralize his athleticism and he struggles to stay square at the point of attack. A tendency to have a narrow base while engaged with lineman means he is too easily knocked off balance. As a pass rusher White wins primarily with his athletic tools. First step quickness and an ability to convert speed to power makes him a load to handle. He has plus bend off the edge showing tremendous balance and the ability to flip his hips at the top of his rush. His above average length and the strength in his hands allows him to utilize a devastating straight arm. White really only wins with his physical tools at this point in his career. He lacks any semblance of a pass rush plan and his punches while powerful, are not very accurate. As a recent convert to the EDGE position this is to be expected but with a deceleration age of 24, there will be concerns about investing a high pick on such a raw player. Keion White is one of the more athletic EDGEs in this class when it comes to height, weight, speed. Players of his talent caliber don’t grow on trees so expect him to go early in this year's draft. In a deep EDGE class however, lack of polish, and a late breakout age may knock him out of the first round despite his talent. White projects as a solid number 2 pass rusher at the next level with the physical tools to turn into a number 1 with proper coaching.
