Summary
Kendre Miller burst onto the scene as a true junior for TCU in his first full season starting. Miller was a vital cog for the upstart Horned Frogs on their path to a national title game appearance. Miller possesses fantastic vision and instincts for a one year starter. His tape shows patience and a willingness to let his blocks develop. His feel for space on a variety of run concepts is exceptional; he needs very little green grass to get yards. Miller is a powerful back that excels at running between the tackles where his thick frame and footwork shine. He has plus contact balance, rarely is he taken down by the first defender or arm tackles. Miller shows the ability to use sharp one cut moves to make defenders miss at the second level but he lacks high end elusiveness especially if he doesn’t have his momentum coming down hill. His lack of foot speed means he struggles to change direction and get up field on horizontal runs as well. When paired with Miller's deficiencies in terms of long speed, his ability to generate chunk or splash plays is very average. Miller projects to be an instant impact player as a rookie to due his NFL ready frame and contact balance. However a lack of big plays and struggles in the passing game will limit his ceiling. With his limited experience as a third down back and overall average athletic profile he will likely only be a 2 down back to begin his NFL career. Miller’s projection as a high floor running back should make him in the range of being a Day 2 pick where he will have the ability to step in day 1 as the body blows back in a committee. Miller shows the potential to be a dependable starter, that can soak up a majority of a backfields carries, should his pass protection improve.
