Summary
O’Cyrus Torrence was a lightly recruited player out of high school with his only Power-5 offer being from Georgia as a defensive tackle. Torrence was a standout lineman at Louisiana Tech for three years before transferring to Florida in 2022 and starting 11 games. Torrence is a big powerful guard who road grades defenders. Plus length and power at the point of attack makes him a devastating downhill blocker. Torrence has powerful hands that are difficult to disengage from. Torrence does not have the quickest feet and as a result will likely be gap scheme specific. He also has a tendency to dip his head when engaging in blocks which is unfortunate given his average balance. Torrence has enough mobility to climb to the second level and execute reasonable reach block assignments despite being an average athlete. As a pass protector he is extremely technically sound and very intelligent. He rarely chases stunters in pass protection and does an excellent job keeping his head on a swivel while engaged with rushers. Torrence marries his hands and feet very well in pass protection to make up for his lack of foot speed. His length and anchor ability makes him a difficult player to beat quickly. His hand placement is not always perfect but he does an excellent job of resetting his hands after the initial miss. Lack of foot speed limits his ability to recover when beaten but those times were few and far between. Torrence projects as an impact starter with experience at both guard spots. His ideal landing spot is a power run team that can take advantage of his power and length. Torrence has the ability to both the run and pass game to be a quality contributor from the jump which gives him the rare chance to be a first round guard.
