Summary
Sika Ika is a big, powerful, run stuffing nose tackle with some surprising quickness. Ikas has been the anchor of a Baylor defense that has been one of the stingiest in all of college football the past few years. He is an excellent run defender that plays with outstanding leverage. His power and anchor ability makes him extremely difficult to dig out at the point of attack. His hand power and ability to grapple allows him to dictate the movement of opposing offensive lineman. His hand strength and use of leverage allows him to stand up lineman and play two gap assignments with his exceptional read and react skills. Ika has surprisingly good quickness for a man of his size. His ability to get off the line low and fast tends to surprise defenders which allows him to make splash plays as a penetrator. Ika can miss some tackles due to lack of lateral explosion vs speedier ball carriers. Ika is an exceptionally smart football player as well. He understands how to use his size to keep second level defenders clean and what hole to fill to contain. Ika is also excellent as getting his hands up in the quick game or when his rush stalls. The biggest question surrounding Ika will be his ability to stay on field for 3rd down at the NFL level. 2021 was an extremely successful season as a pass rusher (6 sacks), he often surprised lineman with his first step quickness and power. He slowed down more in 2022 as his lack of a pass rush plan or top tier athleticism started to show up. The impact Ika makes as a run defender will make him a highly coveted prospect in a thin IDL class this year. If he can bottle some of his pass rush success from 2021 and become a league average push rush as he could be one of the most impactful nose tackles in the league.
