Summary
Will Levis has the build and physical talent of a prototypical NFL quarterback. Tall, strong and mobile with a rocket arm he checks all the boxes. He has the arm talent to hit every throw on the field and it often can save him from dire situations. A smart player he works through his progressions well and is quite effective in the quick game. Willing and able to play from Under Center and in the gun he is scheme versatile. At over 220 pounds he is a great athlete, this makes him a dangerous weapon in the run game both on designed runs and as a scrambler. A creative thrower he can utilize his legs and arm angles to create plays out of structure and on the move. The main issue with Levis is consistency. All the things he does well do not happen consistently enough for him to be a top tier prospect. Too often does he miss open WRs, and too often does he throw guys into traffic by using the wrong pace on a throw. As a decision maker he makes too many head scratching decisions, whether it be holding the ball too long in the pocket or trusting his tools too much and forcing tight window throws. There is context to Levis’ situation, a poor supporting cast left him constantly under pressure and forced him to make tight throws at a clip well above NFL average. The physical tools and off field intangibles will make scouts drool over him but until he can put it together consistently I struggle to see him as a top tier QB prospect. Guys with his talent are rare so he will go high in the draft, it will come down to landing spot for him and whether his NFL home can put the right pieces around him and develop him. If his future team is able to do that he could become an All-Pro caliber player at his ceiling but his floor could cost people their jobs.
