Summary
Drake Maye projects as one of the top QBs in the 2024 Draft due to high level physical and mental makeup. He possesses an above average NFL arm that has the velocity, accuracy and touch to access the entire field. He is a sound decision maker who shows the ability to process full field reads post snap. Maye is a good athlete that can create when the play breaks down and punish defenses with his legs as a scrambler and designed runner. A mentally tough player, Maye shows the ability to bounce back from his mistakes and is more than willing to put his body on the line to help the team win. He is a big game hunter that likes to look for big plays, this can lead him to passing up easy checkdowns and time. Maye’s willingness to hand in muddy pockets and try to find the optimal target also results in higher sack numbers. His frame has the ideal measurables for a NFL QB but could stand to add some muscle. He is a good athlete but not particularly twitchy and will likely not be able to escape from defenders as easily at the next level. Maye has the tools, tape and processing ability to be the top QB in the class.
