Summary
Marvin Harrison Jr., son of former Colts All-Pro Marvin Harrison, is one of the most complete receiving prospects the NFL Draft has seen in years. The 2023 Biletnikoff Award winner and Heisman trophy finalist checks all the boxes for an NFL receiver. At 6’4” 205 lbs he easily clears all size thresholds, he combines his size with fluid movement skills and elite balance. Harrison has easy acceleration and deceleration skills which allows him to drop his hips and explode out of breaks far better than a player of his size should. He is more than just a physical specimen, the Junior wideout is one of the smartest route runners in the class. Harrison has a mature and diverse release package. He uses a variety of releases (speed release, single move and double move) at various tempos and speeds depending on the type of coverage and defender he is facing. Harrison also has an exceptional understand of coverages and how to attack defenders leverage. His ability to use head fakes as well as jab and rocker steps allows him to turn DBs hips giving himself advantageous positioning to stack his man or gain the favorable side for his intended route. When combined with his upper echelon athleticism it makes him a dynamic 3-level route runner. For as good as his route running is, Harrison’s best trait is probably his ball skills. He possesses elite balance and body control as well as a massive catch radius with top end ball tracking. He has the ability to adjust to passes in a variety of directions outside his frame and has the play strength to win through contact at the catch point. Harrison did have issues with drops in 2023, as he sometimes turned his hands the wrong way and had the occasional concentration drop as a result. Also for as good as an athlete as he is he lacks an elite top gear and it limits his impact as a ball carrier after the catch. Harrison has all the physical and mental traits to be a true alpha WR1 from the get go. He projects to be the top WR taken in the class and has an outside shot at being the #1 overall pick.
