Scouting Report
Chase Lundt is a former 2-Star recruit from the state of Texas. He redshirted his freshman season with UConn before winning the starting RT job as a sophomore, and starting 49 consecutive games. Lundt had a stellar 2024, cutting his pressure and sack numbers by over half on a career high snap count.
Lundt is a tall tackle with good linear athleticism. He is an experienced player who excels as a zone blocker, a concept the Husky offense ran at a 70% clip in 2024. Lundt has good burst out of his stance to get his head across on reach blocks or work to the 2nd level. He has a fantastic understanding of outside zone tracks and how to adjust off of them to give his ball carrier clean lanes. Lundt has efficient footwork to work around and seal his assignment. He also shows the strength in his hands to hook and turn away edges aligned outside his shoulder as a play side blocker. In pass protection, Lundt’s first step allows him to quickly drive laterally and cut off speed rushers to their landmarks. He has fast independent hands that he locates well. He displays an excellent snatch-trap move to clear his frame versus long-arms as well.
Lundt has a lean upright frame with average lateral twitch due to stiffness in his knees and hips. He lacks the power or mass to create push at the point of attack and doesn’t project well to gap schemes. He has short arms and a narrow base which limit his ability to lock out and drive when he attaches to his target. Lundt had his best season as a pass protector in 2024, but his tools project averagely to the next level. His short arms yield first contact to the rusher and his high pad level allows defenders to forklift him and open up his inside shoulder. Lundt lacks the redirect ability to quickly close down his inside gap when it is exposed. He also lacks the anchor to hold his ground and set a firm pocket when rushers get access to his chest.
Lundt profiles best as a RT in a outside zone heavy scheme. His lack of power or length will remove him from certain teams’ boards, but in the right offense his burst and zone acumen are starter quality. Lundt projects as a late Day-2 pick due to his scheme limitations.
