Scouting Report
Jacob Parrish is a former 3-Star recruit from the state of Kansas. A 3 year contributor, he started 24 straight games over the past two seasons for the Wildcats. Parrish was a consistent contributor, showing the ability to play outside and in the slot, and received All-Big 12 honorable mentions in both 2023 and 2024.
Parrish is an undersized feisty corner with excellent speed and quickness. He possesses the athletic ability and mental acumen to play in both man and zone coverage schemes. Despite his smaller frame, Parrish loves to be aggressive and initiate contact in coverage. He deploys quick violent strikes to the chest in press to disrupt release timings. He is able to be aggressive at the line because he has sub 4.4 speed, that allows him to quickly get back into the play when his strikes miss. Parrish is a sticky man coverage corner with the movement skills to stay attached to his targets’ hip at all three levels of the field. In off coverage he shows good route recognition, and lateral agility to mirror receivers and maintain leverage. Parrish is a little bit of a gambler in zone coverage. He will read QBs eyes and use strong burst out of his pedal to undercut routes and make plays on the ball. Parrish’s size will limit him versus the run, but he plays with proper leverage and doesn’t shy away from contact when dragged into the run fit. He is a sure tackler as well, who attack the legs of bigger ball carriers to chop them down.
Parrish is small for the position, at sub 5’ 10” 190 pounds. He attempts to overcome his size deficiency with his aggression, but bigger receivers are still able to power through his punches at the line of scrimmage. Parrish’s handsy playstyle does generate flags at a fairly high clip, and could become a problem at the next level. He also has a bad habit of overextending and losing his balance when he throws his hands. Parrish put up good ball production in college with 5 INTs and 13 PBUs, but struggles to win in contested catch situations versus bigger receivers. When he gets stuck on the back hip of receivers he lacks the length to chop over the top and dislodge the ball as well. Parrish is a willing run defender but his lack of size limits his ability to be an impact player. His light frame is easily washed out of the play when blockers can get hands on.
Parrish profiles best as an outside man corner, but displays slot and zone versatility to create a well rounded profile. The size and grabby play style might not be for every team, but his athletic ability and coverage floor give him a quality starter outlook. Parrish projects as a versatile CB2 who should be a Day-2 pick.
