Scouting Report
Wyatt Milum is a former 4-Star recruit from the state of West Virginia. The home town product was a 4-year staple at tackle for the Mountaineers, receiving Freshman All-American honors at RT before flipping to the left side where he logged over 2,000 snaps. Milum has been one of the best tackles in football the past three years, allowing 0 sacks and receiving All-Conference and All-American honors in 2023 and 2024.
Milum is a tall lineman with a well proportioned frame and plus strength through his legs and hands. He is at his best as a gap scheme blocker where he uses his strong hands to pop and drive down-linemen off the ball. He gets significant displacement on down blocks and double teams by driving into defenders ribs and washed them down the line. Milum isn’t an exceptional athlete, but displays the burst and launch angles to get out of his stance and cut off smaller defenders in space. His strong upper body is able to create push on move blocks and generate favorable angles for ball carriers. Milum was an extremely productive pass protector who lowered his pressure rate in consecutive seasons. He leverages his experience into a variety of set points and strike timings to keep rushers off balance. His hands are quick and accurate with the grip strength to control reps when he gets hands on. He does an excellent job sorting through muddy looks and picking up looping defenders. Milum’s thick powerful frame allows him to eat contact to his chest and hold his ground. He displays a plus anchor in pass protection versus power rushers.
Milum was an excellent college tackle but his 32” arms indicate a future move inside. His short arms prevent him from locking out and controlling edge defenders, and in an effort to compensate for his lack of length he is often caught reaching out over his knees. Milum is a good run blocker but must improve his ability to sustain and drive. A narrow base and a tendency to dip his head on contact creates balance issues and allows defenders to slip off his blocks. Milum was a good college pass protector but his average athletic profile projects better at guard in the NFL. He displays below average fluidity and redirect skills to quickly close down open gaps when left on an island. The same length and balance issues that plague him as a run blocker create inconsistency for him in pass protection as well.
Milum profiles as a gap scheme guard with the versatility to slide outside to tackle in a pinch. His experience, hand work and natural power should translate quickly at the next level. Milum lacks the elite tools to be a top pick but his high floor should find a home somewhere on Day-2.
