Summary
Sedrick Van Pran-Granger is an experienced center prospect with good movement skills and high level football IQ. The former 4-Star from Louisiana has been multiyear starter for the Bulldogs with over 40 career starts and 2,700 snaps at center. He was a two time All-SEC player in both 2022 and 2023, as well as a All-American in his final season. Van Pran is a good athlete with the foot quickness and burst to get out in space as a blocker. He quickly is able to climb to the second level and seal off linebackers on combo and solo blocks. He has good burst out of his stance to get his head across 1T defensive lineman who have initial leverage. Van Pran is extremely smart and understands how to position his body to seal off in the hole defenders and give his back a clear rushing lane. He struggles to find the same impact as a blocker on gap runs as he does on zone runs. Van Pran lacks the mass or lower body strength to create displacement at the point of attack without the help of a double team. His hand placement in the run game is inconsistent and his shorter arms have trouble controlling and steering defenders at the point of attack. He also has a bad habit of dipping his head on contact, causing him to be ripped off balance, something he will always struggle with as a taller center at 6’ 4”. Van Pran’s experience really shines through in pass protection. He takes good sets to cut off defenders and does an excellent job working to reset his hands and stay in control of reps. He is a good communicator who does a smooth job of passing off and picking up stunts. While he lacks lower body strength he makes up for it with flexibility in his core which allows him to hold his ground versus bull rush. Van Pran’s pad level concerns do show up in pass protection from time to time but he does a better job maintaining his leverage when not on the move. He does project to be a center only at the next level as he lacks the redirect skills to consistently protect on an island, requiring bumpers on either side to help him out. Van Pran projects as a starting center who best fits in a zone run scheme. He lacks the physical tools or strength to be in a power run offense but he is smart, experienced and have the movement skills to be quality starter in the right scheme.
