Summary
Terrion Arnold is a former 5-Star safety recruit from the state of Florida. The #6 overall player in the state for the 2020 class was a two sport standout in both basketball and football. Arnold is an athletic corner with excellent quickness and fluidity for the position. He has the foot speed and lateral quickness to mirror all types of receivers in man coverage from both press and off coverage alignments. Arnold has quick hands and the agility to disrupt release timing and match angles in press, as well as the hip fluidity to open up and run with vertical routes. He has had strong ball production in his two years of starting in the SEC, with 6 interceptions and 20 pass deflections. Arnold displays good ball tracking skills and the jump timing to win at the catch point down the field. He does an excellent job playing through WRs hands when his back is turned as well as driving through receivers bodies to disrupt the catch when coming downhill. Arnold is not the biggest corner but he is a positive in the run game. He will fill the alley with speed and aggression, bringing power behind his pads as a tackler. Arnolds aggression can get him in trouble at times. He has a tendency to come out of control with a high pad level and quicker ball carriers are able to make him miss. The same over aggression also shows up in coverage. Arnold is a instinctual corner with the burst to close on in breakers quickly when operating in zone but he is susceptible to double moves due to his aggressive play style. Arnold mostly wins in coverage with his athletic gifts and still needs polish as a coverage player. He doesn’t full trust his athleticism at times causing him to frequently overset in order to keep from being beat vertically. Nuanced route runners that can set up their stems and releases are able to manipulate his leverage and create openings. Arnold also struggles to consistently pass off and pick up routes when multiple enter his zone simultaneously. Arnold projects as a starting outside CB with the versatility and toughness to play nickel if needed. His blend of athleticism and ball skills should allow him to play in a variety alignments and coverage types. Arnold is far from a finished product, but 21 year old’s with high level SEC production and physical tools like his don’t grow on trees. While not a perfect prospect by any stretch of the imagination, he has some of the highest upside in this class and has a good shot to be CB1 off the board.
